There is a distinct difference when writing content for different purposes. I have been asked to write content for products, services, introductions. blogs and Search Engine Optimised (SEO) landing pages and each has it’s own specific style and requirements.

Firstly, the page needs to be correctly optimised, so that when search engines cache and index the page, they understand which search terms that page should be ranking for in the search results. This is so much more than just inserting lots of key words, which can, in fact be detrimental, not helpful, to your rankings.

There are very specific aspects of a page that the search engines, such as Google, pay particular attention to and if you don’t get these right, it can hinder your chances of appearing in the search results.

I have been writing correctly optimised for websites for several years, helping my clients to enjoy growth in visitors and most importantly, conversions of those visitors into clients.

The second challenge is to ensure that even whilst optimising the page for search engines, the information remains engaging and readable for human visitors. Many times have I seen a page of content written purely for the search engines, forgetting the human element entirely. This merely serves to disenage the visitor, drastically reducing the chance of conversion, in whatever form that may take.
